It's not possible for there to be more than one name associated with a SSN on the SSA or IRS systems. That's not to say that someone isn't fraudulently using his SSN with the wrong name but that would trigger a mismatch letter from SSA.
As long as you file separate returns, what he files will have no affect on you for those tax years that you filed separately.
